Technical
Experience:
Glenn started
tinkering with computers in the 1970's. At that time he and his brothers
bought an Osborne "kit" computer with 8k of memory (and no hard drive).
The software had to be manually programmed into the computer each time
it was used. When the computer was turned off, everything was lost.
They learned much about hardware and software during those months of playing
with that Osborne.
Many years
and computers later, Glenn saw the potential to provide useful information
through the Internet and started dabbling with web design. Several
friends asked him to develop web sites for their businesses, and they were
pleased with the results. They told their friends, who told their
friends -- and so in 1998, "ASKaPRO" was founded.
As indicated
above, Glenn has developed web sites for individuals and businesses all
over the United States. For many years he managed the website for
the Palmetto PC Club, and still hosts
it. He has developed e-mail services which have simplified communications
for several businesses, including several newspapers in the Knight-Ridder
chain (including the State Newspaper). He has also developed
several community newspaper sites. He is the web master and on the Technology
Committee for the Church of the Lutheran
Confession (an international group of Lutheran churches headquartered
in Wisconsin), as well as LutheranMissions.org
(reporting on foreign mission work). He has assisted the Columbia
Technical Entrepreneur's Council, established by the South Carolina
legislature in the late 1990s to promote technology in the state, and is
one of the organizers of the semi-annual Columbia
Technology Exposition, and "Last Tuesday at Jillians", helping to promote
South Carolina entrepreneural businesses. He is the webmaster and technical
adviser for the South Carolina Healthcare Managers Association, serving
medical offices throughout South Carolina with MedicalManagers.net.
He is also a Technical Support Specialist for NCR
Corporation's ATM Business Operations in North America. |
ASKaPRO-owned
Services:
In late
1998, Glenn founded the Web Masters Network to bring together web
developers of varying skills. This network of professionals has helped
to keep web development costs to a minimum - a savings he is able to pass
along to clients.
In late
1999, StreetCar Internet Services, LLC was founded in partnership
with Dr. William Campbell, a Columbia plastic surgeon. A long-term
agreement was signed with Bahnhaf Internet AB to market 250 of the top
domain names for the nation of Sao Tome. StreetCar was discontinued after
Dr. Campbell's death in 2001.
Also in
late 1999, OfficesdotMD
(www.Offices.MD) was founded to provide
online services for medical professionals. This service has since
been incorporated into our MedicalManagers.net
service, founded in 2005.
In early
2000, SC Newspapers Online! (www.SCnewspapers.com) was founded to
provide online services for community newspapers. This service has
since been discontinued and its features incorporated into our other services.
In early
2001, Race Teams Online (www.Race-Teams.com)
was founded to provide an outlet for small race teams to promote themselves
online.
In late
2001, Columbia Technology (www.ColumbiaTechnology.org)
was founded to promote small entrepreneural companies in the Columbia area.
Because of the interest of several companies elsewhere in South Carolina,
we created www.SCTechnology.org
in 2003.
In early
2002, South Carolina Domain Registration and Hosting (www.RegisterSC.com)
was founded to provide domain registration services. In 2005, www.RegisterWisconsin
was founded to support several new customers in the midwest.
In 2004,
LakeMurrayFun.com
was launched, to help promote the companies on and around Lake Murray,
South Carolina. This is currently still in development. |
Several other services are in development,
and will be announced as completed.

A letter from ASKaPRO's founder
and owner:
Although I grew up in the midwest and still have many ties to that region,
I have lived and worked in the Columbia, SC area for most of my adult life.
Thirteen years was spent with Columbia's State Newspaper, two years
with the Lexington Dispatch-News, and several years with NCR
Corporation. Over the years I have been a member of the Columbia
Chamber of Commerce, Lexington Chamber of Commerce, West
Metro Chamber of Commerce and Irmo Chamber of Commerce.
I have been a member of and webmaster for the Palmetto PC Club and
Columbia
Employers & Owners Association as well as the webmaster and technical
advisor for the South Carolina Healthcare Managers Association
and
the South Carolina Association of Health Underwriters. I assisted
the Columbia Technology Entrepreneur Council in several initiatives,
and organized and presented two successful expositions. I was one
of the founding members of the State Newspaper Toastmaster's Club,
and am currently an officer of the NCR Toastmaster's Club.
I have served frequently on the council of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
- CLC, many times as its president.
Because of my position in the community, I have an obligation to my friends,
business associates and clients to maintain a reputation of honesty and
fairness. I would like to do business with you!
